Residents in Dublin can contact the HSE's Your Mental Health Information Line at 1800 111 888 for immediate referrals to free counselling slots at clinics across the city.
Stress levels have climbed in Dublin since the start of 2026, with more calls logged to local helplines after winter energy bills rose and commuting times on the Luas lines lengthened. The HSE noted in its March quarterly report that anxiety cases in the capital increased by 14 percent compared with the same period in 2025, pushing demand for free services that do not require GP letters or private payments.
Walk-in support operates at the Jigsaw centre on Lower Mount Street, open weekdays from 9am to 5pm, where people aged 12 to 25 receive up to six free sessions focused on stress and sleep. Adults can book the same day at the Aware drop-in on Lower Leeson Street, which runs group sessions on Monday evenings without appointment or charge. Both locations sit within a short walk of Pearse Street station, making them reachable on a single Luas green line trip from most southside neighbourhoods.
The HSE recorded 8,742 free counselling attendances in Dublin during the first quarter of 2026, a figure drawn from its internal service dashboard released last month. Average wait time for an initial assessment at these sites stands at nine days, down from 18 days two years earlier after extra funding was allocated to the National Counselling Service.
Anyone dialling the HSE line receives a same-day text with the nearest available slot and a map link to the venue. For those who prefer in-person entry, the Rathmines library on Leinster Road hosts a weekly HSE outreach desk on Thursdays from 2pm to 4pm where staff issue referral codes on the spot. People can also text the word HELP to 50808 for a callback from Pieta House's free Dublin service, which covers the northside and operates until 10pm on weekdays.
