More than a dozen organised fun runs and charity walks are scheduled in Dublin over the next six weeks, with events planned for Phoenix Park, the Grand Canal and several southside streets.

Summer months bring longer daylight hours and milder evenings that make outdoor group activity easier to schedule after work or at weekends. Local organisers report higher registration numbers in July compared with spring months, as residents seek structured ways to exercise together rather than alone.

Events anchored in familiar Dublin spots

The Clontarf Running Club will host a 5 km fun run starting at the Bull Wall car park on 19 July at 9 am, with a €12 entry fee that includes a timing chip. Proceeds go to the local RNLI station. On 2 August the Dublin Mountains Partnership organises a 10 km charity walk beginning at the Hell Fire Club car park above Rathfarnham, open to all ages and priced at €18 per adult. Both events require advance online registration through the clubs’ websites.

Earlier this month the annual Liffey Swim drew 1,200 participants between the Custom House and the 3Arena, according to Dublin City Council records. That turnout figure is used by event planners to set capacity limits for smaller neighbourhood runs this summer.

Registration and safety details

Participants are advised to check the Dublin City Council events calendar for road closures and to arrive at least 30 minutes early for marshalling. Medical advice remains that anyone with an existing condition should consult their GP before joining longer distances. Entry links and exact start times appear on the organising clubs’ social media pages each week.
